Penn for Youth Debate (PFYD) focuses on providing Philadelphia middle and high school students with the opportunity to participate in Public Forum debate. Research has proven that debate can do wonders for students by increasing their literacy, public speaking, and critical thinking skills. By providing volunteer debate coaches to schools, and hosting debate tournaments, PFYD is committed to bringing these benefits to every student in Philadelphia!

Penn For Youth Debate

Promoting Debate in Philadlephia Schools

PFYD is a Student Activities Council recognized and funded group at the University of Pennsylvania that aims to support and enourage debate amongst urban youth in Philadelphia. Through our volunteer program that partners current college students with local high schools, students are able to prepare for our annual debate tournaments, including the nationally-recognized Liberty Bell Classic.
